Fulfilling minutes and being initiated

MINUTES REQUIREMENT

Within an academic year (September to April), students must attend a minimum of 8 weekly club events to be initiated. These events are geared toward professional development and networking with fellow students and industry professionals.

Additionally, prospective initiates must also participate in either the Non-Profit Initiative or Volunteer Income Tax Assistance (VITA).

MEMBER INITIATION

In order to be initiated after fulfilling the required minutes, a one-time $75 fee must be paid to the National BAP organization.

BAP membership, like that of most honors organizations, requires the making of a verbal commitment or oath associated with membership. The oath does not in any way conflict with religious commitments. If so desired, the oath and commitment of membership may be found in the BAP Constitution.

IMPORTANT DISCLAIMERS

Members may be initiated mid-year if they have attended at least half of the required meetings before the end of Fall semester and completed a Non-Profit Initiative project. Students who are still interested in becoming a BAP member on or after January 1 (i.e., Winter semester) will still need to attend 8 meetings and participate in VITA to be initiated with other students in April. Once a student has been initiated, they will be considered an official member of Beta Alpha Psi.
